Updated: AN INJURED driver managed to free herself from the wreckage of her car after it came off the road and ended up in woodland near York.
The crash happened at about 12.20pm yesterday in Dauby Lane at Elvington, near Dodsworth Wood. The woman who was driving the silver Jaguar suffered neck and chest injuries.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene, but she had been able to climb out of the car by the time they arrived. She was taken to York Hospital but her injuries were not serious.
The road was closed for just over an hour afterwards. No other vehicle was involved in the incident, but anybody who saw the crash should phone police on 0845 6060 247.
