York Indoor Bowls Club ‘A’ proved too strong for Harrogate in the Mason Trophy as they won 48-24 on aggregate.
At home, the game finished one end early as the final result was beyond doubt.
The team led by Melanie Brooke enjoyed a relaxing afternoon, leading 10-2 after six ends then winning five successive ends to lead 33-8 when the visitors conceded.
There was a tighter game in Harrogate as the teams were level at 8-8 with 13 ends gone.
Four successive singles gave the edge to Linda Harrison’s team and a three on the 20th gave them a four-shot cushion going into the last end.
Gill Godden’s home side refused to give up and scored a five to take the match by one shot.
York ‘A’ play Selby in the next round.
