Huntington ‘A’ will be chasing a trophy double in the second half of the York CIU Snooker League season.

Huntington top the division one table by three points from York RI ‘B’, with RI ‘C’ a further point back.

The leaders will also take on fourth-placed South Bank ‘B’ in the quarter-finals of the team knockout next month.

RI ‘C’ are another side in with a chance of the league and cup double, as they tackle Huntington ‘D’ in the last eight of the knockout.

Division one basement side Fulfordgate ‘A’ face South Bank ‘A’, while division two side Acomb ‘B’ meet Burnholme ‘B’ to complete the quarter-final line-up.

At the halfway stage in division two, Acomb ‘B’ are neck and neck with Huntington ‘B’, with Burton Lane ‘A’ a point behind in third place.

The league’s three Clarence sides make up the bottom three in the division, with Clarence ‘B’ eight points adrift at the foot.

In division three, Tramways ‘C’ are leading the title race with a one-point advantage over Tang Hall.

Basement side South Bank ‘C’ are eight points behind Huntington ‘C’ and York RI ‘A’ at the opposite end of the table.

The highest break in the league this season is a run of 55 by G Clements in Thirsk & Sowerby’s 2-2 draw with Fulfordgate ‘A’ in division one in October.

In September, Burnholme ‘B’ player Neil Wood hit a 54 in a 4-0 victory over Tadcaster SC in the top division.

The league season resumes on Thursday, January 5.
