Whether you grew up thinking that the most romantic way to arrive at your wedding would be like Cinderella in her carriage, or make an impact like a Bond girl in a racy sports car, everyone has an idea of how they want to make their grand entrance in style – and on time.
It’s true that some people rely on the vehicles of friends and relatives to save a bob or two – but what if they were to break down in the middle of nowhere? No bride or groom, having donned a dapper morning suit or whiter-than-white dress would want to trek across a muddy field or jump on a bus to get to the church on time.
Professional vehicle hire might cost a little more than petrol in the motor, but it is dependable and stylish and you can sit back and relax in anticipation of your big day.
The choice of wedding vehicles for hire is truly vast, ranging from the traditional white Rolls Royce, Mercedes or stretch limo, to a vintage motor blasting in from the past. You can even hire horse drawn carriages, and again the range is extensive – from a fairytale glass coach drawn by a fleet of white horses to a simple pony and trap or an open or closed coach to suit all seasons. The more adventurous bride or groom could even arrive by helicopter or plane – though when considering this option, it is worth noting that a suitable landing area has to be located nearby. It has even been known for a bride to arrive by hot air balloon and, as long as a favourable wind blows, the groom will not be left waiting for too long.
It’s also worth considering how guests will be travelling from the church to the reception and onwards from there. Many wedding organisers put on a bus to transport people around so that they can toast the bride and groom with a couple of glasses of bubbly without risking losing their driving licence. This is also a useful option if the wedding is somewhere difficult to get to, like a remote village in the middle of the North York Moors or the Dales – not everyone knows the winding country roads so well and they could end up in completely the wrong location.
If you are planning to hire wedding transport, make sure that you book well in advance – at least six to nine months is advisable – and decide exactly how many vehicles you need.
Whatever vehicle you decide on, whether you choose the traditional or the more adventurous way to travel, just make sure that you get to the church on time – and don’t leave your beloved waiting too long...
