THOUSANDS of East Yorkshire residents have signed up to receive a text reminding them to put out brown bins for collection.
The system, set up by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, can also inform people of changes to collection times during bad weather, along with information of which items can be placed in brown bins for recycling.
Almost 7,000 residents signed up for the service within days of its launch, following a similar system for blue recycling bins last year which 21,000 people made use of.
To sign up for the service, text the code at the top left of brown bin calendars to 07786 200406. More information is available at eastriding.gov.uk and target45plus.org.uk
