IN REPLY to Bob Waite (Letters, January 26). I have no idea how old you are, maybe very young and believe everything you hear and read.

I work with the unemployed in York as an employability advisor with a caseload of more than 80 clients and let me tell you as I know best, I have no clients who are on £26,000 per year.

Most lead a frugal existence and having £26.000 per year would be like winning the lottery.

Do you honestly believe everything you read in the national newspapers?

Look around at the homeless, the destitute and unemployed – do they look as if they get £26,000 per year?

What planet do you live on?

Ann Dickie, York.
