A CITY-CENTRE pub that was turned into a Mexican restaurant is going back to its former use.
Thomas’s, in Museum Street, York, reopened as Mojito in December 2010, but the move proved unsuccesful. It is now being reverted back into a bar, and will reopen next Thursday.
Mary Blair has become director of a new company, Thomas’s of York, and has moved to the city with her partner to run the bar.
She said the bar would be a vibrant venue with its own DJ, as well as offering food and a range of beers during the day, including two cask ales.
She said: “I have been in the trade for five years and my partner for ten, and we saw the opportunity online. We have always worked for other people and saw the opportunity to work for ourselves for the first time.”
The couple plan to introduce a special stock-market style promotion, whereby prices of some drinks may fluctuate depending on demand.
