FANS of the singer Lulu headed to a York department store yesterday to share beauty tips with the star.

Lulu visited Fenwick in Coppergate to promote her skin care range Time Bomb, hair care line Operation: Glam and to chat with fans.

She said: “York is so beautiful. It’s very exciting to come to somewhere like York and to meet people face on. I get a lot of feedback and it makes it come alive for me.

“The only things that’s different about me is I sing. I’m the same as all the other women and I’m aging like everybody else. I like to be able to say that I have learnt so much and to share what I have learnt.”

Lulu shot to fame at the age of 15 when Shout hit the charts. She went on to perform in the Eurovision Song Contest, sang with Take That and, more recently, performed as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.

She said about the show: “Part of it was delicious and part of it was torture. I beat myself and my body up trying to achieve something very difficult – doing ballroom dancing at 63. I like to challenge myself and that’s why I did Strictly.”
