THE body found in the River Ouse yesterday is that of missing York teenager Jordan Sullivan, police have confirmed.
The discovery was made by an engineer moving a boat in the river at Naburn Marina at about 2pm yesterday, near to where 19-year-old Jordan was last seen on February 14.
Jordan’s family were informed yesterday and are understood to have helped police with identification.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “We can confirm that the body recovered from Naburn Marina on the River Ouse at just after 4pm on Wednesday 14 March 2012, is that of Jordan Sullivan.
“It is anticipated that the inquest into his death will be opened and adjourned on Tuesday 20 March 2012."
Police have been carrying out searches of the Ouse and its banks in recent weeks, since Jordan, from Acomb, went missing on Valentine’s Day.
Jordan, a travel consultant from Acomb, was last seen near the river at 9.30am that day.
His family and friends have made numerous appeals for information since his disappearance, including a high profile poster campaign.
