A REPLICA crown created in 1937 for the coronation of King George VI is the centrepiece of a royal window display in York.
The crown has been crafted by Ogden’s of Harrogate, which owns the Little Diamond Shop on Lendal, York, and has been on display at the York shop since it opened in 2010.
But with the Queen’s visit just around the corner, Richard Cummings, manager of the Little Diamond Shop, said he didn’t know if the Queen would pass by to see it.
“It is as much for everyone else in the city to enjoy looking at it,” he said.
The window is decorated with bunting, a photograph of the Queen and silver with the Queen’s Jubilee hallmark on it, as well as the replica crown on a velvet cushion.
The crown is one of two made by the jewellers in 1936. The other is kept in Ogden’s Harrogate store.
