Rhona Davies and Michael Sheen were married at Orton-onthe- Hill Church.
Photographer
Dominic Wright. He and his wife Zoe were fantastic and had great ideas. We wanted the photographs to have a relaxed style and they delivered just that. We especially love the photos taken in the cornfield, they're beautiful and dramatic.
Where did you meet
We met in Leicester, Mike was at Nottingham Trent University and doing a work placement in Leicester. I had just finished university and was working in his local bar. We eventually met properly after some flirting behind the bar, as it turned out we had mutual friends.
What attracted you to him?
His big smile and sense of fun, plus he was a little bit cheeky – that works for me!
Where did he propose?
In our kitchen – it was a huge surprise! He had planned to ask me at dinner booked for the following evening but had just collected the ring and couldn't wait, so did it immediately!
The dress
I wanted something with a vintage style, a big skirt and a tiny waist. I never thought I would go for a ‘big one’ but as soon as I tried it on I knew it was the one. It was ivory with a satin bodice and a large satin bow around the waist with an embroidered chiffon shirt with a train.
He wore
Grey tails, ivory waistcoat and an ivory cravat. I made him a buttonhole with pearls, striped ribbon and an ivory rose.
Bridesmaids
It took me a long time to find the right colour. I wanted a bright summery coral. Eventually I found the perfect dresses in House of Fraser – the shape echoed my own dress. I made the ivory sashes myself.
Flowers
I ordered a mixture of fragrant English rose varieties in corals, peaches and ivory and we made up the bouquets with ivory satin bows and arranged the table flowers in green glass vases. I wanted them to look like they had just been picked from an English Regency garden.
Transport
My friend from work has a beautiful vintage cream VW Beatle and he offered to drive me to the church.
Table decor and favours
For our marquee reception the table decorations were English roses, striped blue and white ribbons and cameo brooches which doubled up as favours. We also made little flags for the placecards and stuck them into marshmallows for everyone to eat.
Entertainment
There were lawn games and a model speed boat for the kids to play with on the pond. In the evening we had our ipod playlist which meant we could dance to all our favourite music. We also hired a smoke machine which turned out to be a magnet for the more mischievous guests!
Honeymoon
We hired a beautiful cottage near Falmouth which was on the banks of the creek. We spent the whole time relaxing and it was just what we needed after all the months of hard work putting the wedding together.
