THE days until the Olympic torch makes its entry in a North Yorkshire town are being counted down.
A large roadside banner has been installed on Filey Road, next to Scarborough College, ahead of the torch relay on Monday, June 18, with the idea coming from local firm Woodend Creative Workspace.
Among the people who will be helping to change the countdown numbers on the banner on a weekly basis ahead of the relay are playwright Sir Alan Ayckbourn (April 27), former Yorkshire cricket captain David Byas (May 4), sculptor Ray Lonsdale (May 11), Scarborough and Whitby MP Robert Goodwill (May 18), charity fundraiser Mike Tomlinson (May 21) and the Bishop of Whitby, Martin Warner (May 28).
