BROWNIES have moved four tonnes of soil to make a permanent souvenir of the Diamond Jubilee for their community.
The 24 members of 2nd Poppleton Brownies, all aged between seven and ten, have spent their regular meetings making a garden on Millennium Green, Poppleton.
They filled a specially constructed structure with the soil before planting out patriotically coloured bedding plants. During the winter with the help of local artist Jamie Vaughan, they made four mosaics, two with Brownie and Girl Guide themes and two of Jubilee themes, which they also placed in the garden.
Local gardening businesses and organisations also gave their time and resources for the project.
