Celebrations at Elvington will be joined by a Second World War fighter plane – after it has been towed there by a village pub’s tug-of-war team.
The replica Hurricane, with its wings removed, will leave the Yorkshire Air Museum at 10am on Saturday and be pulled about a mile to the green in the centre of Elvington by regulars from the Grey Horse.
Other festivities will include a Sunday lunch on the green and in the closed main street, a real-ale festival at the pub and a duck race in the beck.
