STREET parties to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee are today getting into full swing across York and North Yorkshire.
Communities throughout the region will be in the party mood over the coming days as they celebrate the Royal milestone, with more than 40 streets in York being temporarily closed to traffic to allow the events to take place.
Appropriately, one of the street parties being held today was in Jubilee Terrace, in the Leeman Road area in York, organised by St Barnabas Church, the Barnabas Centre and the Jubilee pub. About 300 people are attending the event as the street has been lined with tables and chairs, with children's games also being organised.
