GENERATIONS to come will know exactly who celebrated the historic Diamond Jubilee of 2012 in Tollerton after villagers got together for a commemorative photo.
A group picture was taken by villager Richard Llewellyn of 120 people aged between 14 months and 92, who gathered round a tree in the centre of Tollerton which was planted to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee.
A framed copy will now hang in the village pub – the Black Horse.
Organiser Denise Warren said: “It is a wonderful, wonderful place to live with such a community spirit. We have a village photograph taken at the Millennium and I thought it would be good to keep up the visual history.”
Tollerton was one of many communities looking forward as well as back in North and East Yorkshire as the four-day weekend drew to a close.

At Tadcaster, plans are under way for a repetition next year of the concert that proved a big success in their Jubilee festival, which also included a street pageant and crowning the Carnival Queen.
Other communities are also thinking of holding another get-together next year because they enjoyed this year so much. Churches in Acomb are hoping to find a new date for this year’s Big Picnic on Acomb Green after it was rained off on Sunday.
York Minster is preparing to turn the nave into a dining hall for a special Jubilee meal for 900 guests on Friday.
Local authorities were preparing to deal with mountains of used paper cups, paper plates, tablecloths, food and other waste left over from street parties across the region.
