HISTORIC gates at the entrance to a boarding school between York and Selby could be restored to their original condition.
A planning application has been submitted to Selby District Council by Queen Margaret’s School in Escrick, which is seeking permission to renovate the listed gates and put them back in their original location.
The school, which is based in Main Street and teaches girls aged 11 to 18, said the gates no longer meet and have to be fixed shut with metal bands, adding that the restoration would improve security.
