A PUB quiz night is being held in memory of an inspirational paramedic who died after developing a serious illness.
People are invited attend the quiz at the Hole in The Wall pub in High Petergate on Sunday, in honour of Sally Waudby – a paramedic and mum-of-two who died from motor neurone disease earlier this year.
Money raised will go towards York Against Motor Neurone Disease, which supported Mrs Waudby and her family with equipment, practical help and advice, enabling her to be cared for at home.
As her illness progressed and she became unable to talk, Mrs Waudby’s many friends worked to raise £11,700 for a computer which read eye movements to help her communicate and even text or make phone calls. This will now be passed on to other MND patients by York Against Motor Neurone Disease.
At her funeral in March, Mrs Waudby was described as an “inspirational and compassionate” paramedic who helped thousands of people.
The quiz, which is being organised by The Co-operative Travel, will start at 7.30pm. Tickets will cost £1 and there will be a raffle. Everyone is welcome.
