TOM RANSLEY’S Olympic dreams are set to come true after the York City Rowing Club athlete was named in the squad to represent Team GB at the London games.
The University of York graduate, as expected, is part of the Great Britain men’s eight crew that will go for gold in the Olympic regatta at Eton Dorney, which will be held from July 28 to August 4.
Ransley, 26, has been named alongside Richard Egington, James Foad, Matthew Langridge, Alex Partridge, Mohamed Sbihi, Greg Searle and cox Phelan Hill with one more member also to be added at a later date.
He has been formally nominated to the British Olympic Association for selection to Team GB by British Rowing, the sport’s governing body, following an announcement at the Harte and Garter Hotel in Windsor, yesterday.
Ransley has helped the crew to silver medals at the last two World Championships and won the same honours in the first World Cup event in Serbia last month.
