It was brave of the press to publish the picture of the Olympic rings on a Thames barge to accompany a letter (Letters, June 5).

The BBC had to blank out the image for their news programmes or face legal action from the organising committee.

I agree with your correspondent that the London Olympics has to be the most expensive advertising campaign for the world’s worst companies.

‘Legacy’ is just Lord Coe’s fancy word for debt. The Olympic spirit died many years ago. It is just a cynical money-making and wasting exercise.

The biggest insult is the hyped-up propaganda; by the way, the word is ‘inspirational’ not ‘aspirational’! If I had an Olympic torch, I’d bang it straight on eBay. Get in there!
