For the first time in the history of York CIU Race Walking, the ladies outnumbered the men at the St Lawrence Working Men’s Club annual walk number three event.
The ladies got the upper hand in the end taking advantage of the handicap to take first and second places.
The winner was Rachel McMahon ahead of Emma Holmes with Matthew Pugh third.
The fastest loser was Tony Lansbury. He completed the three-and-three-quarter-mile course in a time of 38 minutes and 30 seconds.
