David Thomas and Emma Yates turned the heat on their rivals to win the third race in the York 10k series on a warm evening at Easingwold.
Thomas soon broke away from the field with only Chris Roberts making any effort to go with the early pace. York Triathlon Club’s Thomas soon had a gap of 100 metres that he never looked like surrendering as he won in 35 minutes and 57 seconds.
Roberts finished second with Nigel Thompson third ahead of a large group of runners.
The women’s race was similar with Emma Yates setting a fierce pace from the gun to with by nearly two and a half minutes in 39-41.
Running her first race in the series, Knavesmire Harrier Katie Mellor was second about 100 metres ahead of Robyn Hawxby who won the previous race at Tadcaster.
The next race in the series is on Knavesmire next Tuesday.
