A CELEBRATION of the railways in York has reunited a former train driver with the famous locomotive he was once in command of.
George Lamb, 92, once drove the legendary Flying Scotsman and was featured in a Yorkshire television documentary, My World In The Driving Cab.
And as part of the National Railway Museum’s Railfest 2012 event, which comes to an end tomorrow, he got the chance to revisit the much-loved locomotive at the tourist attraction’s Leeman Road site, while also being given a look round other exhibits at the museum.
For more information about what is planned for the last two days of the event – launched last weekend with a spectacular flypast by the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the renaming of a locomotive named after the flight by TV star Carol Vorderman – log on to nrm.org.uk/railfest2012
