YORK Minster has been recreated in the form of a matchstick model.
Ian Hamilton, 75, took three years to complete his 3ft by 2 ft model of the city’s famous landmark.
The model comprises of 21,000 matches and was built from a series of pictures and photographs to a scale of 1” to 16ft.
Mr Hamilton, from Bradford, has been making matchstick buildings for nearly 30 years, including models of Bradford’s Cartwright Hall Art Gallery and his local church, but he has never achieved something on this scale.
He said: “This is my most ambitious attempt to date.”
Mr Hamilton is looking for a home for his creation, after his model of Cartwright Hall fetched £750 at auction for Leukaemia Research.
