THE owners of a car park in the centre of York have seen their plans for a multi-coloured banner at the site turned down.
Q Park Ltd had applied for permission to display a white, black, blue and red PVC sign at the Shambles multi-storey car park in Garden Place, which has been refurbished.
But the Guildhall planning panel had objected on the grounds it would spoil the appearance of the building.
City of York Council planners have refused the application, saying the car park was in a “sensitive location” within the city-centre conservation area and the banner would harm the look of the area.
