FLOOD waters have generally subsided following days of flooding due to torrential rain across North Yorkshire.
Over the weekend, eight homes in Badger Hill, in York, were flooded as well as half a dozen in Flaxton and a further six in Stockton-on-the-Forest.
The flooding blocked the A64 between York and Malton and caused several thousands of pounds of damage at Richard James Handmade Kitchens, in Flaxton, when a nearby beck overflowed on Saturday.
The severe flooding in the village of Claxton was also captured on camera by Press reader Bill Heath.
However, yesterday the fire service said they had not received any reports of new flooding and Environment Agency flood warnings were no longer in place for the River Foss from Stillington to the River Ouse in York, including the Huntington Road area.
An alert did remain in place for the River Foulness and the Market Weighton Canal and their tributaries.
The David Lloyd gym and health club in Hull Road, which was evacuated on Sunday due to a leaking roof, has been reopened.
However the tennis courts and family changing facilities will be “closed until further notice”.
A spokesperson for weather forecaster Meteo group said the next few days would be mostly dry, but further heavy rain was predicted for the weekend.
