Rose Gray closed 93 in the pairs with Kate Rankeillor as Acomb ‘A’ recovered from a 2-0 deficit after mother and daughter Karen and Sam Stewart gave visitors Castle Howard Ox ‘B’ a good start in their York John Smith’s Ladies League division two match.
However, the home team strung together a match winning five-game run.
Acomb ‘B’ captain Mary Thomas closed 79 in the deciding pairs with Debbie Pollard to snatch victory by the meanest margin in Edinburgh.
Shelagh Kenney, Sharon Rishworth, Margaret Haley and Ann Reagan gave Leeman ‘B’ a sound base before Sheila Elliott and Jackie Simpson put visitors Severus ‘A’ on the score sheet.
Their revival was short-lived as Kenney combined with Wendy Thompson to secure Leeman the match points.
In division one, the Cueball ‘B’ Five Lions encounter included 15 ton-plus scores and a fine 21 dart leg from the snooker club’s Natalie Farmeary and a 22-dart pairs from Bev Harton and Lynne Clapham.
Tracey Farmeary chipped in with a 24-dart leg and Tina Platt closed 69 bull two dart finish as they curtailed the Lions’ roar.
Leaders Walnut Tree had Clair Cooper hitting the tons as they cleaned up in the pairs to knock visitors Tramways off line.
Division three leaders Severus ‘B’ had Wendy Atkin hitting the big scores as Tracey Scurr won the opening leg for visitors Shepherd ‘A’.
The front runners hit back to take the next five games with Jan Stuart sealing victory and Stuart and Atkin combining to add the home team’s tally.
