Newcomers Wigginton 2 eked out their first win in division six of the Fulford Ladies Invitation Tennis League.
They beat hosts Dunnington 68-40, a triumph started by a 9-3 success for Helen Brown and Vicky Miles. Mary Jordan and Pauline Wreglesworth repeated that scoreline in the second round before Jill King and Ann Wainwright posted an 8-4 triumph.
But it was a tougher proposition for the Wigginton first team, who lost 67-41 to hosts David Lloyd 1 in division two.
Wigginton’s Sarah Crabtree and the experienced Denise Crane battled away winning 18 hard-fought games.
