GOLDEN oldies Colin Dobson and Ray Holroyd rolled back the years as they came head-to-head in an NEDL York and District Table Tennis League match.
Both are aged 72 and Holgate D' player Dobson came out on top in his side's 7-3 victory over NEDL/Bootham in division four.
Steve Wands was undefeated as he guided Holgate D' to a fairly comfortable win.
Anne Barnard and Dom Ainger were unbeaten as they helped RI F' dismiss the RI G' side 9-1 in division four.
Shepherds C' were whitewashed by Norwich Union A' as Michael Slezak, Adrian Church and the unbeaten Alan Wren completed the rout to take their side to the top of the table.
Dick Kendall is the other unbeaten player in this division and he helped Sessions C' to a 7-3 win over Shepherds B' with team-mate Peter Taylor holding off John Graham by winning the fourth and fifth games 13-11 each time.
Railway B' made out a good case to be renamed after they overcame their A' team 7-3 in division one.
Stephen Robinson claimed a notable scalp as he inflicted Paul Robertson's first defeat of the season and sent his side to the top of the table after three wins. Mike Wilcockson won all three sets for Sessions A' as they overcame Malton 6-4.
There was a close fight between Coneysthorpe A' and Holgate A' which ended 5-5. Martin Lowe lost his first game of the season to Holgate's Tony Reed.
Railway A' had earlier gone down to a heavy 9-1 defeat at Bootham A' for whom John Wooldridge is unbeaten. Graham Cook won all his games for Bootham.
Trevor Wright was unbeaten as RI C' drew with RI D' in division two.
Charles Allenby was unbeaten as Coneysthorpe B' beat University A' 7-3.
Groves B' were made to fight for their 6-4 victory at Holgate B' in a game where several unbeaten records came unstuck. Both sides are tied at the top of the table.
Sessions B' profited from taking on a two-man Nestl/Rowntree A' team by claiming an 8-2 win. Sessions B' had earlier lost 6-4 to Holgate B' for whom John Flintoft was unbeaten.
In division three, Bob Young won all his games to help Holgate C' to a 7-3 win over Poppleton C'.
Luke Blackburn ended BT player Jim Stevenson's unbeaten run in straight games.
Shepherds A' are on the lookout for a new player to join them. They only have a two-man team at present but fulfilled their first fixture of the season as they went down 8-2 to leaders BT A'. Mick Surtees drew a blank for Shepherds but had three close games. Dave Norville was unbeaten for BT but Howard Broadbent lost his unbeaten record to Gary Neads in a close five-game contest.
Andy Grayson remains unbeaten as RI H' confirmed their superiority over RI I' with a 6-4 win in division five.
Howard Lewis won all his sets for Nestl/Rowntree B' but it wasn't enough to prevent his two-man side losing 6-4 to RI I'.
