TWO masked men attempted to rob a cyclist near a York bridge, sparking a police plea for witnesses.
The 30-year-old local man was cycling underneath Scarborough Bridge in the city at about 11pm last night when the men, both wearing hooded tops with bandanas covering their faces, tried to pull him from his bike.
Officers say the victim managed to get away without suffering serious injuries and before the suspects stole anything.
An 18-year-old local man was arrested in connection with the incident in the area a short time later. He is currently in police custody.
Police are now appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time or recognise the men involved to come forward and help with enquiries. Both men are described as white and about 6ft tall.
Anyone with information should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101 or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
