A YORK student who has gained a place at a prestigious London drama school is seeking support in funding her dream.
Amy Doyle, 18, of Poppleton, has won a place at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts to study for a degree in acting, but is now faced with the challenge of funding the £11,220 yearly fees as well as paying for living expenses in London.
The drama school, which has York actress Judi Dench as president, has also trained Connie Fisher, Amanda Holden and Denise Welch, among others.
The former All Saints School pupil, who is currently working as a cleaner, waitress and bartender to raise money, said: “I am so delighted and proud to have been chosen for one of only a small number of places on my first year of auditioning and at a young age out of such a huge number of people that apply for the course.
“This means that I am within reach of becoming a professional actress, which has been my dream and ambition since I was a young girl singing and putting on plays to my family in the living room.”
