I AM dismayed that Anne Pettit failed to find out the access arrangements for the University of York’s new swimming pool before expressing her anger in a letter to The Press published on June 4.
Hopefully she won’t have deterred people from using this facility when it opens.
In her haste to bash the council instead of finding out the facts, Ms Pettit wrongly blames the council for the pool having some sort of similarities with the David Lloyd Fitness Club.
In fact, the public will not need to be members to use the new pool. The new pool will offer membership and pay-as-you-go options in line with our contract with the university. Pay-as-you-go rates will be set at a level that encourages casual use.
It is to be hoped readers are not put off accessing what will be an excellent swimming facility.
