WHEN will the police and the council accept that the Millennium Bridge is fast becoming a hotspot for criminal activity?
What started out as a welcome route between Fulford and South Bank has become a no-go area after dark for many local residents.
The two attacks on Sunday evening highlight the danger to people using the bridge. There have been many similar unprovoked attacks around this area and I believe it is time to bring CCTV and a regular police presence to the bridge.
I regularly see groups of youths roaming Butcher Terrace, some armed with weapons ,and there is frequent damage to parked cars.
My son now cycles the extra mile into town and round into Fulford rather than use the bridge after dark as he has felt threatened by groups of youths congregating there.
There is under age drinking resulting in broken glass strewn across the pathway, making it dangerous to children, animals and cyclists.
How many more innocent people will be injured before there is action taken to curb this undesirable and dangerous behaviour?
