I HAVE just returned from a few days abroad and in the course of catching up on previous editions, I found it interesting to read the article “celebrating 25 years of pedestrianisation” (The Press, June 4).
The one thing I found very disappointing was that there was no mention of the late Albert Cowan, who had the dream of pedestrianisation and who pushed the scheme forward.
I know of all the hours of effort Albert put into that project which was rewarded with the plaque in St Helen’s Square. Obviously without the plaque he could easily be forgotten.
A great man, with a great vision.
Coun Brian WJE Watson, Guildhall Ward Councillor.
