Selby residents will be in party mood in just over a week’s time when the town council stages the annual Family Fun Day.
All the music, games and entertainment at four venues are free from the fun run at 10.30am starting from Selby High School to the all-day concert at the Recreation Ground in Portholme Road.
Concert organiser Andy Atkinson is hoping for 2,000 to 3,000 at the eight-act extravaganza which Selby Battle of the Bands winners Experiment will start at 12.30pm with headliners Keep It Cash and Hope And Social also among the line-up.
The new Mayor of Selby, Coun George Carter, will officially open the day at noon on community land off Scott Road, where birds of prey, heavy horses and vintage tractors will vie for attention with a snappy crocodile, a bouncy castle and a climbing wall.
In Selby Park, the Barlby Foot Tappers, Selby Music Centre and South Milford Brass Band will providing entertainment.
