A little boy battling a rare form of cancer has now been given a date for pioneering treatment abroad – leaving his family with less than two months to raise £200,000 to fund it.

Jamie Inglis, six, of Kelfield, near Selby, has suffered a neuroblastoma relapse and has undergone surgery to have a tumour that caused paralysis removed from his spine.

After going through chemotherapy and radiotherapy later this month, Jamie has been offered treatment from experts in Germany from July 30.

John Inglis, Jamie’s dad, said they were extremely grateful for people’s efforts to raise money.

He said: “At first the fundraising started really slowly but there are so many people who want to do things.

“It keeps our resolve going – when we think of all the effort people are going to it does galvanise our spirit.”

A team of parents, some of whom have children at school with Jamie at Lord Deramore’s Primary School, took part in a Go Ape adventure challenge in Dalby Forest which raised £1,800.

Mr Inglis said the latest, combined total raised so far was about £33,000 out of a target of £250,000.
