LANDFILL company York Recycling Ltd has pleaded guilty to failing to comply with an investigation by North Yorkshire County Council into concerns about overtipping.
The company was fined £500 and ordered to pay £2,800 in costs by Northallerton magistrates.
Specific information was required from the operator in order to allow informed decisions to be made over any potential enforcement action.
The county council requested the information initially within 21 days, but despite granting a further 28 days and subsequently serving the enforcement notice, it took more than six months to receive the information, and even then only in part, the spokesman said.
