A YORK hotel has found a place at the heart of its community by teaming up with the British Heart Foundation (BHF) in the fight against heart disease.
Hotel du Vin York will host an Olympic torch day barbecue on Tuesday from noon. Guests and residents will be invited to watch the Olympic torch pass the hotel in The Mount on its route into the city.
Links of London, the creator of the official jewellery collection of London 2012, will also be showcasing its jewellery at the hotel. Ten per cent of all barbecue proceeds will be donated to the BHF.
David McDonald, Hotel du Vin York general manager, said: “The Olympic torch relay will pass Hotel du Vin & Bistro York at about 5pm and we wanted to offer guests and local residents a way to mark this special occasion. It’s great to know that our efforts will make a difference in helping to beat heart disease for good.”
Andy Kirby, BHF York committee chair, says: “Everything we do at the BHF is intended to make a tangible difference to people’s lives. Whether we’re providing care and support to patients or researching potentially life-saving treatments, we never forget how many people are counting on us to succeed.”
