I COULD have saved the council £3,000 a week for the next four months (The Press, June 14).
Instead of appointing a ridiculously expensive “temp”, the cabinet member covering city and environment services should have been told to do the job.
If they are not qualified enough to do this job, they shouldn’t be in the cabinet.
One further point – how much notice did the retiring director give before his departure?
Any sensible organisation would put in a senior employee’s contract of employment a notice period that would give them sufficient time to find a permanent replacement before the incumbent’s departure.
Fancy titles abound in the city’s corridors of power, but there is an obvious dearth of common sense.
