A CAT and her kitten were dumped in a crisp box outside an East Yorkshire vet’s surgery.

Owen Davies of the Vermuyden Vet surgery in Goole found the mother and son curled on a white cotton Restmor towel in a Walkers crisp cardboard box on Saturday morning.

With them was a note saying “Please help me. I need a home RSPCA”.

Nicknamed Salt and Vinegar, the cat and kitten are now in the care of the animal charity.

RSPCA Inspector Keira Wynne said: "We were concerned they were dumped but at least they were left outside the vets and not in a field where they might not have been found for some time.

"If anyone notices a cat's gone missing fitting this description we would welcome any information they could give us."

Mr Davies said the six-week-old kitten was fine. The mother, who is about 18 months old, was very skinny but would recover if fed properly. She is one of three cats with kittens at the RSPCA’s Goole base, where there are also 24 unwanted kittens looking for a home.
