A 70-YEAR-OLD man is in hospital with serious head injuries after falling from scaffolding in York today.
The man, who has not been named, fell from the top of a two-storey terraced building in Burton Stone Lane at about 12.10pm.
His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening and The Press understands he has been communicating with doctors.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed they had attended the scene after receiving a call from a member of the public. Officers remained at the site, owned by Associated Insurance Services, this evening.
A spokesman for the force said the matter has now been passed to the Health and Safety Executive.
He said officers were called at 12.10pm and said: “On arrival they found a 70-year-old man with serious injuries. The full extent of the injuries is not yet known. The injuries are not being treated as suspicious and no-one else is being sought in connection with the incident.”
A HSE spokesman confirmed they had been informed about the matter and said they were now making enquiries as to how the accident happened.
A spokesman for Brian Farrell Scaffolding, the company in charge of reconstruction the site, declined to comment about the incident but confirmed the man’s family had been informed.
