MORE THAN 200 children are to take part in an event that aims to encourage more kids to cycle to school.

The Big Cycle Ride, on June 21, will see pupils from Year Six at Beverley school cycle to Beverley Leisure complex where there will be activities and information.

The Go Ride development programme from British Cycling will be on offer, as will the opportunity to learn basic bike maintenance skills and the chance to try out different types of cycles.

Paul McConnon, senior road safety officer, said: “Cycling is just one of the ways pupils can get to and from school which is better for the environment as well as helping to keep them fit and active.”
