THE tennis tournament at Queens Club showed how we as a nation have descended to the depths in personal discipline issues.
A player who assaults a line judge is quite rightly disqualified and his opponent awarded the match by default.
Does the crowd applaud the decision to disqualify? No, they berate the officials and chant for this decision to be overturned; says it all, really.
Had this assault taken place in the street the player could have been arrested and jailed. He should be heavily fined by the tennis authorities together with a lengthy suspension but I have little faith in this action being taken.
