IN reference to Chris Mangham’s letter of May 24, I must agree that David Cameron is leading his government to defeat at the next General Election.
But the fact remains, whoever won the last election, they were in a no-win situation. As the message at the Treasury stated: “Sorry, but there is no money left.”
So whoever took over after the last election was going to find themselves at the bottom of a deep pit. Our only hope is that the coalition can get us back on track. If they fail, they will indeed lose the next election.
But let’s not make the mistake of voting for the party that left us in the pit. Their present Shadow Chancellor was a king-pin in the last government’s treasury office and is still there.
