YORK Museum Gardens played host to natural history experts and families alike for its Bio Blitz event.
They came to explore the wildlife of the gardens and help locate as many species of flower and fauna as possible within 24 hours.
Though still waiting on the final results, participants found 70 species of wildflower, a family of wood mice and six different species of woodlouse. There was also a bat walk, tracking bats through echo-sounding techniques.
Isla Gladstone, curator of natural sciences, said: “It was an amazing day, with lots of families, and lots of activities. It will help us build a bigger picture of the gardens.”
