RAILWAY Institute and Clarence posted respective 8-0 triumphs to overtake Burton Lane at the top of the York CIU Bowls League.
Burton Lane dropped to third after losing 6-2 to Acomb, while South Bank climbed off the bottom of the league with a rare but deserved 8-0 success over Holgate. There has been yet another increase in the number of teams entered this year in the popular Heineken UK John Smith’s Triples knock-out cup competition.
First round ties (to take place on Tuesday, June 26) are: Burton Lane ‘B’ v Huntington, Tramways ‘B’ v Burton Lane ‘C’, South Bank v Clarence ‘B’, St. Clements ‘B’ v Clarence ‘C’, Burton Lane ‘A’ v Clarence ‘A’, St. Clements ‘ A’ v Tramways ‘A’, Acomb ‘A’ v Railway Institute, Acomb ‘B’ v Burton Lane ‘D’.
