A MAN has died after being hit by a train at Northallerton rail station.
Emergency services were called to the station shortly after 9am to reports that a man had been hit by a train. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Delays of up to an hour are currently being reported by East Coast, CrossCountry, Grand Central and First Transpennine Express, as a result of the incident.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “I can confirm that officers attended Northallerton rail station on Thursday, 21 June following a report that a man had been hit by a train.
“The incident, which was reported to BTP at 9.07am, was also attended by officers from North Yorkshire Police.
“Paramedics from North Yorkshire Ambulance Service also attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the man’s identity and inform his family.
“BTP is treating the incident as non-suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
