CITY of York Council’s sports and active leisure team along with partners and clubs from around the city came together with the Olympic organisers to put on a marvellous event at Knavesmire for the arrival of the torch on Tuesday afternoon.
I was there from for an hour from 4pm and saw thousands of all ages and abilities enjoying the many free and healthy leisure activities on offer. It had a really good fun family atmosphere. Well done to everyone involved. York does such a great job of public events. Our vibrant City Of Festivals title is well deserved.
Coun Anna Semlyen, Labour, Dringhouses and Woodthorpe ward.
