A 30-YEAR-OLD man is in hospital after being stabbed several times in the abdomen.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said two men, aged 25 and 27, from York, had been arrested in connection with the stabbing in Cambridge Street, off Holgate Road, at about 10pm on Wednesday.
The victim was said to be in a serious, but not life-threatening condition, in York Hospital.
A resident in the area, who asked not to be named, said she had seen the victim running in the street in his boxer shorts. Then there seemed to be a fight.
She said: "Then someone said ‘Someone has been stabbed’. He came down the steps and slumped to the ground. Someone went round and found him and called an ambulance. They said he had blood coming down the back of his leg and he said ‘I’ve been stabbed, I’ve been stabbed’.”
Police would not specify the type of weapon used in the attack.
The arrested men are in custody.
