A TRIO of Clifton Alliance players were on form with bat and ball in their win over Bolton Percy ‘A’ in their Quality Solicitors Burn & Company Under-9s League zone ‘A’ tussle.
Ben Croft made 22 not out, William Coggrove 21 and Joseph Baker 14.
Croft also took 2-7, Coggrove 1-0 and Baker 2-6, supported by J Dale’s 0-4. For Bolton Percy. Max Thomas took 2-8 and George McVey made 10.
Something had to give when unbeaten Acomb and Ovington met and it was Acomb whose record remained intact in a run-fest.
Unbeaten scores of 39 from Harry Watkinson, 31 from Ben Thornton, 16 from Theo Walton and 15 from Dan Tingle laid the foundation of the Acomb innings.
Joshua Hall was 22no and Jack Walmsley 15no for Ovington, against whom Watkinson took 1-5, Walton 1- 8 and Tingle 1-20.
Finn Baquai took 2-23 for Ovington with Toby Robinson, Jack Walmsley and Anton Mack also taking a wicket each.
Sheriff Hutton Bridge chalked up their first win, proving too strong for hosts Osbaldwick. Sam Stewart made 15no and Thomas Stephens ten. With the ball, E Wyer took 2-6, Robert Kay 1-3 and Dylan Holroyd 1-7. Top performance from the home team came from F Lightfoot with figures of 1-18.
In zone ‘B’, 14 from Alex Stone was the pick of the Heworth batting in their win over Malton & Old Malton. Bailey Kaye took 1-5, Leo Jones 1-7 and Tom Francis 1-9, while Malton’s Connor Biggins took 1-13.
The awaited zone ‘C’ clash between the two unbeaten all girls’ teams went to leaders Bolton Percy, who toppled hosts Acomb.
Eleanor Martin (11no), Isabel Houseman (2-11) and C Murrs (1-8) were the leading performers for Percy, while Sarah Burton again topscored with 14 for Acomb.
Zone ‘D’ leaders Pocklington cruised to a win over near neighbours Stamford Bridge.
Harvey Wilkes top-scored with 23no, while Harry Jackson made 13.
Ted Batty’s 14 was followed with 2-2 with the ball.
The Bridge response was led by Ben Barnett, who made 16no, Jack Thompson, who took 2-27 and Daniel Barker with 2-7.
At the top of the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U11 League (HB) first division, Sheriff Hutton Bridge remain unbeaten after their fourth victory – this time at home to Clifton Alliance.
Isaac Giannini hit 15no, Patrick Livings took 2-4 and there was a wicket apiece for Josh Mould and George Stephens.
The Clifton bowlers C Malone (2-5) and J Osbourne (2-15) made a game of it with their efforts.
Neck and neck at the top and also with a four-match unbeaten record are Acomb ‘A’.
Their latest win came at the expense of Ovington ‘A’ on Little Knavesmire. Harrison Hopper (12no) and Daniel Watkinson (12) helped to post a decent score despite the bowling of Ovington’s Cormac Malone, who took 1-5, Ryan Pearson with 1-7 and Thomas Walker taking 1-13.
The Acomb bowlers came into their own led by Harry Watkinson (2-0), Thomas Brown (2-4) and Joe Hickey (1-2). There were also wickets for Daniel Watkinson and Will Anderson.
Cameron Hall took 3-13 and S Wordsworth made 13 as York side took the points at Dunnington ‘A’.
For the hosts, Harrison Mussell made 11, J Richardson ten and F Smith took 1-7. The win gives both teams a record of two from two.
Yapham ran out winners by five runs after a close division two encounter at Acomb ‘B’.
Oliver Robinson was the star man with 12 and 0-2 supported by James Creaser 1-1.
In reply, there were good bowling performances from Josh Tingle (2-5) and Joe Allerton (2-6).
Heworth had a six-run win over Stamford Bridge to maintain their unbeaten record.
Zac Moorcroft (19), Alex Bell (12no), Jack Wilkinson (10) and Will Rowntree (10) led the run-taking, while Ojas Pandev (1-3) was in the wickets. Bridge’s Dan Durkin took 2- 3.
It must be hard to judge the man of the match for Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U11 (IB) League zone ‘A’ Bishopthorpe as singularly and collectively they again produced good performances.
Their latest winning efforts were at Tadcaster Magnet to remain unbeaten and on top.
Joe Curtis hit 22no, which included two sixes, plus he bagged 2-6 and pouched a diving catch. He was supplemented by Matthew Sharples’ unbeaten 19, again featuring a six, while Angus Bindloss bagged 3-5 and Alexander Fearns held a “breath-taking reflex catch” at gully.
For Tadcaster Magnet, Miles Buckle made nine and Josh Burlingham took 2-12.
Londesborough Park travelled to Clifton Park to meet York and came away with the zone ‘B’ points after winning by the slender margin of nine runs.
David Weston made 18no and tallied 0-2, while there were wickets for Kai Birch (1-5), Freddie Johnson (1- 10), Tim Weston (1-12) and Archie Raper (1-14).
The pick of the York bowlers was Freddie Orpin with 1-2 and Charlie Atkin, who took 1-9.
York went through to the quarterfinals of the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U11 (IB) Cup with a win over Woodhouse Grange thanks to Zac Darbandi (with eight runs and 2-10) and Sam Lonsdale (2- 3). For Woodhouse, H Gill took 2-7.
